About Marcia Gordon

Marcia grew up in New York City and spent more time there than anywhere else, although not in one stretch. She spent ten years in her teens and twenties volunteering, taking seminars and working in programs and in the office of an agency for the functionally retarded, some with multiple handicaps. She was an Army wife and lived in both Italy and Germany. In her thirties, Marcia lived in Vermont for three years and enjoyed skiing, hiking on foot and with snow shoes, organic gardening and the close-knit community of rural living. She also lived on a kibbutz (an
organized rural community) in Israel for a year, learning the language and working as a volunteer. Then, back in NYC, when her daughter went to kindergarten, Marcia went to Marymount Manhattan College and received a B.A. in Studio Art in 1988. She single parented her daughter for ten years before moving to West Chester, PA.

Marcia worked as a bookkeeper for most of her life, or in other office positions. However, she also made and sold batik clothing and paintings, mended and embroidered clothing, picked fruit, assisted a dairy farmer, worked as a gardner and organized people's homes. Throughout her life, she has been interested in food from seed to table, and learned to prepare nutritious and delicious meals. Along the way, she created a plethora of her own recipes.

Ms. Gordon studied various aspects of nutrition on her own for more than forty years, applied what she learned to her life and helped many friends and family members along the way. She learned that using only our traditional western medicine was not getting to the source of her concerns and that a holistic approach was more preventative, healthful and rewarding.

After years of sharing her knowledge on a casual basis, Marcia realized that she wanted to help people on a larger scale. She received advanced professional training at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition* (IIN) in NYC and became a Certified Health Counselor through IIN and the Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). She also received a certificate in Integrative Nutrition from the Teachers College Columbia University.
